Can my gpu run 2K?

Go to solution Solved by Coaxialgamer,

Newegg has this 21:9 2K ultra wide monitor on sale for Black Friday.

I'm concerned my gpu won't be able to run it. I have an EVGA GTX 750 ti SC. I still want to get 60 frames; would it be possible to run the monitor at a lower resolution, or is it just a better deal to get a 1080 16:9 monitor? I'd rather not have to buy a new gpu with the new monitor. Thanks! Happy thanksgiving.

maybe older games will work , but i doubt a 750 ti could run games at 2560*1080 at 60 fps without dropping everything down to low-med.

That gpu already struggles to run modern games at 1920*1080 at 60 fps , so save your money and  maybe get a 16:9 display

Your GPU can drive ultra wide 2k, but probably not on any demanding games.

You could get the 1080p monitor and then put the test towards saving up for a new GPU, or you could get the ultra wide monitor, then start saving up for a new GPU.

Personally I wouldn't understand why you would run it at a lower resolution. It's a waste of money. You may as well just get a lower resolution display - the card is probably not going to net you 60FPS unless you're willing to turn down in-game settings.

So far the toughest game I'm running is fallout 4. What do you think?

You're not running that game at 60FPS at that resolution.
