There are no dual GPU cards that have two 280X's.

well 4 280x destroy a single 980ti if they scale well in the games you use to test them.

on the other end with 4 280x's you'll get huge power consumption compared to a single 980ti lol

not to mention the heat output in your room

Technically the 7990 is just that.

Closest card you could get to 2 280X's would be a HD 7990, and a 980Ti would likely outpace that. specially 2 980Ti's in SLI.

a 7990 or 280X's in crossfire would be more comparable to between a 970 or 980 (maybe more up with the 980)

Still not really 280X's. But yes, that would be the equivalent.

He likely has awful scaling - two 980 Ti's would be better even if the 7990s were able to technically outperform it.

Crossfire. Not SLI.

I just remembered that xD.

Honestly though 2 7990's/4 280X's/HD 7970Ghz's wouldn't be a recommended option over a 980Ti.

1 4 Way Crossfire would have quite the bit of issues + Not all games will scale or work with it so well.

2 To power such thing you'll likely want a 1300W-1500W PSU, so factoring in the costs of the PSU (about 250-300$) and the 4 cards (about 600-700$) it'll be kinda not worth it over a single 980ti, you would be as well as stretching a little and putting a 2nd 980ti in, which would blow the quad 280x's out of the water.

3 The Existence of the R9 295X2 and Fury X And Crossfire R9 390's

4 Bigger Noise and Heat output + Not the greatest of Overclocking ability (7990)

5 Quad 280X/Dual 7990 would only have a 3GB Buffer Compared to the 980Ti's 6GB

6 Features, Yaddi Yada.

+ Yeah yeah i know it's Crossfire it was a mistake :P i've not been concentrating too well today, don't start rubbing it in (Potentially anyone seeing it :P)
