Best CPU/GPU for 400$

IncompetentProdigy

I have been recently making quite a lot of posts regarding me upgrading for the holiday season. I mustered all of the money I can, and now I need help deciding on what is the best cpu, gpu combo for ~400$.

I am willing to buy used or refurbished, and I want the most price for performance possible. I play at 1080p, and I do no intensive workload, so I need something strictly gaming. Thanks for the help in advance!

Will you be overclocking? And what socket is your mobo?

My MOBO is a b85 chipset, and I would prefer not to overclock, also my psu is just a 520w.

I always advise getting the 4690k over the 4460, it's a small price difference that's worth swinging.

4690k and 960 or 4460 and 970? Or 4460 960 and an ssd?

The 4690k will give you more head room to upgrade your GPU and to overclock when it's time.

Will a xeon 1231 suffice? Or better gpu performance?

if it's a good quality PSU yes. If it's a bad one not even a 960 will run fine

As long as it's 3+ghz and quadcore it will work. Make sure it's compatible with your mobo! I got a xeon and it wasn't compatible :(

Should be fine. Go for a 390

I just looked up 390 prices, and it is out of budget should I go for xeon 1231 v3 and 960 or i5 4460 and 970?
