Microsoft-prevalence-based analysis of the File Detection Tests 2015

Source: http://www.av-comparatives.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/avc_prevalence_201509_en.pdf

The Microsoft-prevalence-based analysis report is supplementary to AV-Comparatives' main report, already published of the September 2015 File-Detection Test. No additional testing has been performed; rather, the existing test result have been re-analysed from a different perspective, to consider what impact the missed samples are likely to have on customers, according to telemetry data of Microsoft.

Microsoft commissioned this supplementary report. This report is a prototype customer-impact report; improved version might be provided for future File-Detection Test reports. In this report, customer impact is measured according to prevalence. Essentially, some malware samples pose a greater threat to the average user than others, because they are more widespread. An impact heatmap can be found on http://impact.av-comparatives.org/

I don't believe these scores are that representative of the real world situation. This report is probably released and created because ms themselves scored high on their own criteria

"Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people."

Main rig:

Other devices

Oneplus One 64GB Sandstone

Surface Pro 3 - i7 - 256Gb

Surface RT

Server:

SuperMicro something - Xeon e3 1220 V2 - 12GB RAM - 16TB of Seagates
