budget: $2500 (includes monitors, tower, peripherals, and etc. basically everything) ((however i am trying to keep it lower, recently brought it down to the $2200~ range, tower by itself is just above $2000)
usage: gaming, rendering, 3d modeling/game design, and casual use
setup type: dual screen, 1080p

notes:

motherboard
not sure which motherboard to go with, was thinking either Asrock x99 extreme4 or the Msi x99A Sli+
the only spec benefit that the x99a+ has over the ex4 is usb 3.1 and a better color scheme (in my opinion)
while the ex4 has many features and a generally cheaper price tag in comparison, only thing it is lacking is the 3.1 port (you can acquire one with it but it is simply a board add-on instead of built-in)

GPU
thinking its overkill for a dual 1080p render/gaming setup

monitor
not really sure which to go with at the moment

i have a separate thread dedicated to this specifically -> http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/490854-best-monitor-for-under-150/

thoughts?

lol nvm its overkill for 1080 p @KabuTheFox and you should switch it out with a fury X because of the HBM the rendering will be better and its still gaming overkill

that's a nice solid build that's gonna live long, I personally would consider a Samsung 850 PRO rather than an EVO for the SSD, but I like the way u'r going, not leave anything to chance ... to take advantage of quad channel ram why not go 4X4Gb instead of 2X8Gb, other than that, it's actually to notch for me, really cool, good luck and happy building :)

i will happily look into the 850 pro

thank you, i am trying to make sure to get my moneys worth in a time lasting build

i originally went with 4x4gb instead but it was continually recommended to me to just go with 2x8 instead, because; less parts that could fail, and room to upgrade

doesnt make sense...

not sure what does not make sense, both the nvidia 980ti i listed and the fury x's i found were in the $600 price range

if the fury x was lower in price tag with those specs i would consider it more, but because it isnt and i just simply perfer nvidia, i will probably stick to my overkill nvidia.

tl;dr if its overkill but about the same price, it would seem to be more worth the money

+1 for 850 pro

I recently bought one and the speed increase is definitely noticeable.  If you're still not down for the pro then I'd suggest upgrading capacity so you can load your most played games onto it and get the benefit of the SSD in more than just OS Boot time.

as far as ram in concerned, I prefer if u got most of what u need/want together, because buying the exact same ram in 6 months might mean a slightly upgraded chip so not exactly the same as the ones u already have, hence possible problems, I've had my share, but today I'm running 8X8Gb in my main system all bought as a single box manufactured the same time, and I'm not having any kind of problems, previously I also had a Rampage 4 Extreme with 8X8 Gb also as a single package , no problems whatsoever, note that I never overclock as for SSD, I think it would be interesting to see reviews and PRO VS EVO, then make u'r decision, both are great actually so u could save, but do it knowing why u don't need the extra ;) , check out my main system if u want, as for anyone asking why 64 Gb ram, Adobe AfterEffects gobbles up as much ram as u throw at it, so does 3D MAX, games rarely use up more than 4Gb ( that was GTA 5 )

great find, and u'r right the price difference is way more than expected, perhaps keep on the EVO for now and if possible plan something in the future, when I got the PRO, it the EVO were the same price from where I got them, still for speed I do rely on a Samsung XP941, to which I rerouted all paging files and many apps scratch disks, perhaps some months from now u could consider a then more reliable and way faster and more affordable PCI-E SSD just for that, keep booting from the EVO but give u'r system a boost that way if it could be in u'r budget a few months from now, since u are getting into X99 platform, it does offer that

You can find lots of monitors on Craigslist. However, if you want two identical monitors, you'll probably have to buy them from elsewhere because on Craigslist there are tons of monitors and finding two of the exact same 1080p monitors will be such a pain.
