  1. looking for a laptop more or less for general basic use, no gaming but the ability to open any app if needed. mostly to be used for browsing and other such day to day use. minimum wanted specs; <$400usd (perferably <$350usd) 4gb ram windows 10 (or variant) 1080p screen, 60hz atleast 1 usb port of some sort doesnt need alot of storage but atleast 64gb of storage would be nice if the space is needed mostly just want something fast and easy to use within a budget, can definitely be one of those windows tablets which are basically ultra-portable laptops
  2. tried; reseating ram resecuring cables on the mb switch the bios switch between A and B clearing the cmos with the cmos button switching outlets switching power cables
  3. had this build for almost 2 years now. MB is the msi x99a sli plus and PSU is a evga supernova g2 750w. only thing recently switched out was the ram, but that was months ago at this point. i had turned it off via the switch on the psu earlier today as i was expecting a storm, however i did not unplug it from the wall. i do not believe one rolled through however as its been sunny all day. there was one last night but it didnt cause any outages. when i went to turn the switch back on and power the pc back on nothing happened, just a small blue light on the MB and thats it. the light that is on is circled, below what happened, and is there anything i can do?
  4. In the market for a new charger but not sure if there's any benefit to using a usbc-to-usbc vs a usba-to-usbc, if both are rated for quick charge 3.0 (does the s8 accept other quick charge features like poweriq??) - Ideally looking for a dual port (or more) charger, 1 port to quick charge my s8 and the other to charge my switch (that port has to be usbc with pd 2 or 3), any recommendations?
  5. so basically at this point in time, gsync would mainly be better for a desktop as opposed to a laptop to sustain its lifespan? also on the topic of screen tearing / clipping , after awhile i ended up having that issue alot on my dell xps. was that just from age (at this point it is 6-7 years old) or just me not using the right settings? even regular videos, especially if i was streaming via hdmi were very clippy.
  6. wouldnt gsync take care of most/any screen tearing / clipping though?
  7. Indeed I can grab the 15 or 17 for 1300, though the 17 doesn't have g-sync. Not that I have ever had anything with g-sync before but screen tearing / clipping has been annoying on previous laptops. Not sure what I would even want to change or even could change in the AW though
  8. If I were to give the clevo the same comparisons as above they would be Clevo p670hp6 +gsync + better cpu (7700hq) + 2x ssd size -no macros -no OS - priciest ($1520 at least, after buying os) -barebones design -/+ standard stereo speakers (I think, can't find anything saying otherwise) Granted the 7700hq vs 6700hq is a pretty minimal upgrade from the results I have seen, roughly 5-10% difference The extra space of ssd is nice but not needed (no way to downgrade though for a lower price) Is that all worth $200 over the price of an Alienware 17? (legit question) How's the qc of these Clevo / sager? How's the customer service?
  9. i have since been considering this clevo as well http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8176-clevo-p670hp6-g.html but the lack of OS (meaning i haveto tack on atleast $40 onto the final price) is discouraging considering i am trying to keep price down spec wise it has everything i would want besides macros and lacks the subwoofer of acer and aw
  10. mostly looking at 17" options like the clevo p670hp6-g ( http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8176-clevo-p670hp6-g.html ) i was looking at the alienware 17 r4 as well but its lack of gsync kind of is a let down, i am sure its tolerable without but my previously laptop (dell xps l702x) was plagued with screen tearing especially when streaming via hdmi, very annoying. and the heat up issues mentioned in your post about the AW 15 i imagine also effects the AW 17 having a hard time finding anyone who even has the acer predator i mentioned besides youtube reviewers who dont reply to there comments, hard finding answers to specific questions i will say though bestbuy surprisingly has the acer listed for $1380, might order it from them and if i dont like it just return it.
  11. does indeed seem to be an error says 6gb on newegg and amazon listings for the same model name
  12. 1060 4gb https://us-store.acer.com/predator-17-gaming-laptop-g9-793-79pe
  13. thoughts on the acer predator 17 g9-793-79pe at the <$1500 price range?
  14. anyone have anything bad to say about the acer predator? havent seen anyone even mention it yet
  15. yea seeing pretty bad reviews on newegg myself of the latest iteration of them judging from asus's site theres no many options for 1060 or 1070 but judging from amazon theres plenty but the specs to price comparision is on par with alienware when theyre off sale, how performance is i have no idea. a bit disappointed by how the only option with 7700hq and gtx 1060 was the grey option with no black option at all, but thats just me being nitpicky
