I heard that r9 2xx and 3xx can be used in crossfire, is that true?

 

 

also, am i blind or is there no Xfire connector on Sapphire r9 390 Nitro?

1. Yes, but you will be held back to the lesser card

2. Yes, AMD's newer cards (200 and up) dont need XFire bridges

amd got rid of the connector cause it isnt necessary, and yes im pretty sure you can crossfire as long as its the same amount of shaders and like same gpu

I had a 290 and 390 in crossfire. Impressive scaling but like you I wasn't thrilled with being limited to 4g. But the work nicely together.
