how to use a microphone on the XBONE?

Just bought me an XBONE, and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get my mic working. I use a Turtle Beach DSS2 for virtual surround sound, but when I plug my mic into the audio jack in my controller, I can't talk into it. Do I need to get a CTI adapter to trick my controller into thinking it's a headset, or am I just messing something else up?

What is? The DSS2 is connected to my xbox, but my mic isn't.

You should have to plug the pink cord into your controller. Assuming you have a 3.5mm jack.

The adapter is for the people who don't have the 3.5mm jack.

 

Double tap the xbox button (or go all the way left on the homescreen) and goto the settings cog and dick around with those settings.

 

There's also a link to the full system settings there. Check the chat/accessories/audio settings.
