I currently have the HyperX Cloud 2 but they just arent cutting it. I was thinking about the ATH AG1 or M50x. Show me some headphones or headsets that sound amazing for both music and gaming are comfortable and somewhat portable.

Should i use a dac/amp? (If that really improves your sound). I have X99-Pro with Crystal Sound 2.

Is Blue Snowball a good mic if i go with Headphones or should i go Blue Yeti?

Budget is not planned yet. Let me see the reccomendations first.

Budget is not planned yet

Cool Beyerdynamics T1 and a Shure SM7B $1500 well spent

No but really, a budget is important, a proper set of headphones like some DT880s and say a rode podcaster mic would be a good option without costing the earth

Or some 770s and AT2020 - something along those lines

Or if you dont need "pro" audio a mod mic is a great option for teamspeak and skype with decent quality, just not something to record on

For a headset all in one recommendation I like my MMX300s and will always recommend them as they have a killer mic and great audio *cough I did a review on them too* but in my opinion the best off the shelf all in one option, better than the game zero and AG1 in my opinion

If you get high end headphones it might be worth investing in an AMP DAC but it depends on what you choose, if your motherboard has anything built in for it, and your budget as they can range from a $35 Syba, a $200 Schiit to hundreds or thousands

Should i use a dac/amp? (If that really improves your sound). I have X99-Pro with Crystal Sound 2.

Can you get to the higher end of comfortable listening volume at 80%?  Then you probably don't need one.  One way to find out is to plug in your Cloud 2 directly into the motherboard, bypassing that inline dac/amp that the Cloud 2s use.

My motherboard couldn't power my Cloud 1s adequately.  It was comfortable listening volume at max or near max settings, and for some media I have artificially boost volume through software (which doesn't sound as good).

Considering open back phones.  The AD_00x line is considered the best for competitive gaming (positional and distance accuracy).  I have the lowest of the line, the AD500x and the sound amazing.  I kinda what to get the SPH9500.  There are many cool things you can do with the detachable cable.  The only thing is the aren't considered portable because of sound leakage.

He could go for an Plantronics GameCom 780/788, buy hey who am I to decide? I'm just suggesting lol.

The best thing would be high end headphones, and a ~50$ mic.

Like everybody said Blue snowball isn't that good and I don't expect any better microphone for $50.

Blue snowball would be perfectly fine for gaming.

I have one, sounds good. Good enough for voice chatting.

He would be better off with an GameCom Plantronics 780/788.

Uh not really.

Something like akg k612 pro, a suitable amp, and a blue snowball would blow that headset out of the water.

GameCom 780/788 same microphone quality as Blue Snowball and has Dolby 7.1 sourround sound for the same price.

I have no experience with they, but there is no way it has as good of a mic.

And you can get much better audio quality with the k612 pro like I said before

go look on Youtube for the mic quality. The headset is cheap and is really good for a low price. If he wants bot thing seperate then he needs to know what his budget is. I could suggest a lot of adio setups if i don't know his budget.
