Intel Stock fan fail

This happened 3 days (sorted it out, wanted to tell you guys) I went to turn on my PC, it would to turn on then after 5 minutes it would turn off my CPU was idling at 70C!. Then I started to smell something burning, I turned my PC off. I realised the small was coming from the CPU fan, one of the wire was burnt   (likely I ordered the Hyper 212 from Cooler Master) a day before. Anyway I took the Stock fan out:

 

Likely the CPU had survived. :D 

 

And the thermal paste was dry:

Anyway, well done OP for catching it before the chip died. My H100i was making my chip overheat, but I RMA'd it before any damage was done. Now just turn the stock cooler upside down, place it on your desk fan side down and use it as a coaster. It's what I do :D

^^ The chip won't ever cook itself since that's what thermal protection was put in for.  It'll either throttle back or if that's not working it will shut down completely.
