Digital media tends to be more accessible.

Hi, as someone who prefers physical media I'd like to understand the attraction to digital, with physical you can sell it, lend it or give it away, with digital you can't as it's locked to your account.

The only point of getting a physical media nowadays is to put it on the shelf.

PC gaming feels like a very restricted platform in that once you've invested in a game and your done with it you can't get any money back, unlike console gaming which gamers are not restricted (if they purchase the physical media), console gamers have a level playing field as well.

The level of DRM that PC gamers have accepted nowadays has stripped us of a lot of basic sales rights. Its not a good trend its really very evil what these companies are doing but gamers have just accepted, even hailing Steam as something good rather than the death of their rights. It makes no difference if you buy the DVD or download it now, its still going to come in the same restricted package and cant be lent or sold on.

Current PC DRM is still key bound. That applies to physical copies as well. So only point of them is to show off your collection. Or if you can get them cheaper from local dealer. Consoles might be bit different still. But I believe games with multiplayer features are still locked with account.
