In need of a cheap chair

Craftsman_2222

I need a relatively cheap chair that is pretty comfortable. I really wouldn't want to go over 250$

DXRacers are kinda over my price range

They're worth the extra $100

They last longer than those cheap chairs

Save up and get one, you will not regret it.

If you can don't cheap out on a  chair. I'm 6'2. I break chairs within a few months because I lock them in place and try to sit up strait. I'm not even overweight, but I'm at the threshold for what most chairs are rated for. Or, since most lock on the right side only, they begin to lean, meaning the lock arm likes to fall out and scare the shit outa me.

I've spent so much on cheaper office chair I keep breaking, that next time I'm just gonna bite the bullet and spend money on something that will last. And won't hurt my back like my current one does.

Is worth mentioning I'm 240 pounds. Sounds like a lot but I'm out of shape at best, not fat for my height. BMI calc puts me in the obese range, but skinny I'm 220 give or take. So I'm pretty dense I guess. (Maybe my long hair is heavy?)

What does that mean?

There's literally no chair made for me under the 300$ range, even if I lost the weight I've gained.

Top that off, if I had a skinny frame, like a friend I have that's 2 inches taller and like 150 pounds or something crazy, the back support factor would still come in- very hard to find tall chairs in a decent price range

So if you are either tall or at least my weight, really avoid plastic made office chairs, buy something more expensive. In the long run it will serve you better. I regret not doing it myself as the "cheap" office chairs i keep breaking are 70-150$ each

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

Thanks. When you do buy a more expensive chair, what would you be looking at?

I'm not sure yet, all I know is it's gonna hurt the wallet. I was looking at dxracer and maxnomic. The car seat style and dense not too soft padding is exactly what I'd like, but being slightly tall means I basically have to pay extra to get a chair my size, they're basically fitted. What's more is I'd want the metal replacement for the legs and casters, which adds a lot to the price. I tend to lock the chair and place my weight towards the back, putting a lot of stress on the legs. I had a chair that was cheap, like 125$ maybe, and reasonably tall and padded (was pretty decently comfortable for me) and one of the wheels literally snapped off in the middle of the leg and hit me in the face while I was typing. I weighed around 215 ish then too, and that's about as skinny as I could go (without being malnourished, different more recent story). I would not like a repeat of that.

Though, since that chair was near the right height, I did abuse it and lean back and watch movies and stuff in it, so that probably weakened it

Given you are maybe 5'10" and under and not too heavy, you won't be limited in your choice of seat from dxracer or maxnomic, nor will you need the stronger legs. Hell I could probably get away without them, that chair was a freak occurrence, and just replace them with the tougher one if they break, not sure yet.
