My brother needs a smartphone under $200 USD

AlTech
Go to solution Solved by AlTech,

Well, no choice then, Moto G third gen it will be!

You can even customise it on the Motorola website for free if you want.

http://www.motorola.com/us/products/moto-g

Or shop at good ol' Amazon

http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Moto-3rd-Generation-Unlocked/dp/B00ZQVSKSM

It has a microSD card slot, a gig of RAM and is water resistant.

You could probably find an unknown Chinese phone with slightly better specs for that price, but I don't really recommand that.

I think I'll go with Windows Phone since i wouldn't be able to help my brother if he needed help.  Also. More Windows Phone users = smaller app gap

My brother has never owned a smartphone.

He needs one,

It's got to be under $200 USD UNLOCKED.

This is for his birthday since it's gonna be his birthday soon.

Please recommend any smartphone within $200 USD.

Around 5"

Needs 1GB RAM.

Snapdragon 4xx series.

Needs at least 8Gb with Micro SD slot Card or 32GB without micro SD card slot

Good or OK camera.

Would like a link to the manufacturer's website.

Thanks :)

EDIT: The reason why I haven't immediately found a windows Phone is because I'm not sure he'll like them.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

Samsung Galaxy Grand 2

Its my current phone, its a phablet and can be found under 200$

It feels good and not cheap but you should get a micro sd  for more storage and download a launcher to fix the laggy default, but its all fast and should take 2 minutes to get a new launcher.

Dont different people consider different sizes phablets ? Even if it isn't its a still a big screen that is not too big to handle or put in your pocket but is big enough for a great viewing experience

Not wrong, xD i bought this phone so i know what its running, when i first turned it out it was running KitKat straight away and there are custom made non official lollipop roms for it in case anyone wants to run that.

Some versions come with jelly bean , that is true but it upgrades itself to kitkat automaticly via ota i think
