Hello my fellow peoples!

I am thinking of building a new PC soon, though for now, I was thinking of just upgrading my GPU at least, but wasn't sure if it's possible with my current rig. I'm not sure if I would be bottle-necking or if my PSU can handle it or even has enough plugs for what I would get. So I was hoping you could help me out.

I wasn't sure which category to post under, so hopefully this is the right spot!

------------------------------------------------------------------

My current system specs:

CPU: i5-3570K @4.10GHz

RAM: Corsair XMS 3 16gb 1600Mhz

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 FTW Edition

MOBO: Asus P8Z77-V LE PLUS

Power Supply: Corsair TX650M

COOLING: Antec Kuhler h2o 620 (Radiator mounted at back if case)

STORAGE: Western Digital WD Black 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s
Western Digital WD Black 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD

CASE: Raidmax Super Aeolus

----------------------------------------------------------------

I was thinking of taking my 670 FTW out, and upgrading to a 980Ti. I'm still not sure which version of the 980Ti I would get, but I was thinking maybe the 980Ti Hybrid. I THINK it would fit in my case, and I think the radiator would be able to reach the front fan opening of the case, but I'm not sure.

I picked out the parts for this PC, but when it was built (in 2012), I had the store I bought the parts from put it together, since it was my first build ever. So I still really never looked at how everything hooks up to the PSU and how is everything is connected, etc..

---------------------------------------------------------------

So, enough blabber...hopefully you can help me out...so let me make it a bit easier and put the main concerns here again..

- Will my i5-3570k be enough for the 980Ti?

- Can my PSU handle it/does it have enough power connectors for the 980Ti?

- Do you think it would fit in my case fine, and if I went with the Hybrid version, I would be able to mount the fan on the top front fan of my case?

- I'm no extreme overclocker, maybe just a simple basic one. I want cool temps. So do you think the Hybrid 980Ti is my best option, or would you recommend another version?

------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you so much in advance. I think I asked all the questions...for now at least!  ;)

why would you get a hybrid if your not OC. 650W should be okay.

I am going to OC, I was just mainly saying I'm a complete noob at OC and not sure how to do it "properly". I mainly just said that so nobody would recommend the KingPin Edition for example, since that is mainly for "Extreme OC'ers".

I want to OC, just not sure how completely, but like I said, I will most likely try to, but no Liquid Nitrogen or crazy stuff like that haha.

I agree it is overkill.

650w is fine I ran a MSI Gaming 6G on a 650w corsair supply with CPU and GPU overclocks.

Overkill as in.....650W is plenty you are saying correct? Also, with the PSU I have, I should have enough Power connectors right?

I mainly wanted the Hybrid for the nice temps. I would be trying out an OC on the GPU as well.

I haven't looked much into other versions of the Ti, but how are your temps with the MSI? I've heard good things about the Gigabyte G1 too.

Though...yeah...other than that..I'm not sure what other version I would go with. Ideally of course I want a good card, but also low temps! I may SLI eventually with a new build. Though that would be later in the future.

The MSI card is good, my temps are really good but I have a open air case so it is cooler for me.

I dont really think there is any bad 980tis and I have heard good things about the MSI, gigabyte and the WC versions.

650w is the least I would go but is plenty none the less.

Your current rig is still solid. Like jcw said, about any 980Ti will be good but I have the EVGA GTX 98Ti SC+ ACX http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Installed-Backplate-Graphics-06G-P4-4995-KR/dp/B00YDAYOK0/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1447641963&sr=1-1&keywords=980ti and its been very solid. My second vote goes to the MSI GTX 98Ti Gaming http://www.amazon.com/MSI-GTX-980TI-GAMING-6G/dp/B0106QZE62/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1447641981&sr=1-2&keywords=980ti model because of how quiet the cooler is.

Just go with whichever you want really.

Intel Core i7-8700K @ 4.8GHz | Corsair H110i GTX | EVGA RTX 2080 XC | Asus ROG Maximus XI | Intel M.2 nVME SSD 1TB | Samsung 850 EVO 2X2TB | 32GB G.SKILL Trident Z 3200MHz CL14 RAM | EVGA SuperNova GS 1050W | Kept cool & quiet in a Fractal Design Define R5 Window with all Noctua fans

*UPDATE*

Hopefully someone can help me out with this now too...

I looked inside my case and I currently have my 670 FTW plugged in obviously. It is powered using 2x 6-pin connectors. After looking, I saw they also have a 2 pin connector on each also on both, unused of course.

Now for example, looking at the 980Ti Hybrid. That has an 8-pin and 6-pin connector. By looking at the picture of the product, it shows that it comes with power adapters.

One of the adapters is a 2x 6-pin to 8-pin. (Example)

So that would take care of the 8-pin that is needed. Problem is, I still need a 6-pin for the other connector!

----------

They also include a 2x molex to 6-pin. (Example) Though, problem is, I'm not sure if I have enough molex plugs, or if I do, if they are even in reach to get to the adapter/GPU.

---------

So, I was thinking, would it work if I used some sort of splitter cable for the 6-pin? For example, this one I found on Amazon. Basically it turns one 6-pin connector into 2x 6-pin connectors. If it works the way I'm thinking, I would be able to plug one of them in the adapter to power the 8-pin, and then the left over 6-pin can be used to be plugged directly into the GPU 6-pin that was needed.

------------

Sorry if this was confusing, but I need help haha!

Would this work???
