Gene Amdahl, a trailblazer in the design of IBM’s mainframe computers, which became the central nervous system for businesses large and small throughout the world, died on Tuesday at a nursing home in Palo Alto, Calif. He was 92.

This is sad, from my minimal understanding of his work he was one of the reasons we have modern servers. 

This is a few days old, I couldn't find it in a google tho.

What I find curious is that he was in a nursing home.

This is sad, but well he was old, and is basically singlehandedly responsible for the way scale up computiing looks today. Thats quite a legacy. Not to mention there is a Law named after him...

I thought his work in mainframes was mainly in scale-up... Regardless, one of the best of the old guard, quite a loss.
