i heard corsair PSU are bad, but how about the RMx ones?

1832vin

hi, i'm currently trying a find a PSU for my 5820k with 2*GTX980 setup, and i don't know which PSU should i buy, since i don't have alot of money left (i can save for a bit longer)

and i was going to settle for the EVGA 1000W G PSU, because there are some main capacitors from chemi-con  but then i found out that crosair has this RMx PSU, but i can't find a super in-depth review, so i'm asking here, are they really 100% japanese capacitors and is it stable, cuz i'm gonna need it to be able to sustain overclocks 2-3 weeks straight during renderings

thanks

Corsair PSU's are great.  They are just not recommended much cos they also cost more than their competitors.

How is this review not in-depth.  Nothing Anand does is not in-depth.

RMx is fantastic. Check out the PSU whitelist in my sig for the good ones.

Corsair PSUs are really good.
Just not Corsair's CX line of PSUs.
Corsair's RMx line is pretty great, JonnyGuru gave a 1000w 10/10.

EVGA is what i would recommend, awesome customer support, the best warranty in the biz, and high-quality PSUs at a great value.

you think 850W would suffice for OC 5820k and OC 2*GTX980?

or do i need 1000W, if yes, then corsair is out of price range

I would assume so.

In fact, in Linus' SLI scaling video, four 980s didn't even hit 850W, let alone the 1500W of the PSU he was using to test it.

You could always run it through Cooler Master's power test thingy to see if it will. Search 'Cooler Master PSU Test', and it'll likely be the first entry.

Here is a review of it - maybe have a read of that. :)

^ This. That review says it all. They pretty much covered everything.

Perhaps the CX and CS is a little on the high side compared to its counterparts, but that can always change depending on a reseller promotion.. The RMi, RMx, HXi on the other hand is a different story, they're prices are extremely competitive. Matter of fact, in some regions they have better prices. So yeah, prices can really vary depending on your location and the reseller you're buying it from.

Just an example.

nah, I doubt it he'll run into that issue.
