I am curious if this computer i am planning to build is a bad idea, its a fanless computer that's mini itx, and though the components are made to run without proper cooling, I'm not sure if they are made to be run without any cooling in the computer. Would the computer overheat? would it die?

Linus did a build that was fanless

If im being completely honest im going fanless to make my computer unique. i want it to be cool (no pun intended)

Uhhhh if you have that one fan in the back on the case on pushing out air then I think I should work fine as the Graphics card will have a fan to cool itself and air should be pulled up through the PSU thru the cpu cooler and out the fan in the back.

I removed the fan as the GIANT cpu heatsink interfered with it.

Then I wont think it'll work, unless you drill holes on the top and bottom for the heat to naturally rise out. Which should be very easy to do with this case, it was meant to by DIY'd. Also maybe just maybe, you could get a graphics card with rear exhaust and it would pull air through your case but then you may have a loud gpu cooler and a hot card. Also I have seen people put long cards in this case with a blower style cooler before.

The gpu is fanless, made to be that way though. passive cooling:

So you would definitely have to mod the case a lot to make this feasible. Actually I would just mount this all to a test bench or make your own open air case out of acrylic plastic panels. With a budget of 30 bucks and a dremel you could make a pretty badass looking case, just keep in mind that heat rises and you should be fine in the design.

It's not going to be unique, look in my signature ;)

You need much more ventilation holes in this case for sure. But with a drill you can mod this easely.

Now the components:

- PSU: As you have a relativley low power draw and the PSU is good, it will have no problem to be operated passive.

- CPU: 95 watt with an off the shelf CPU cooler and no additional airflow at all is a bad idea. Under full load the core will hit 100°C within seconds and throttle. It will not die outrigth but you lose performance. The CPU will die sooner than usual but you should get a few years lifetime. In fact the Apple 5k iMac is designed to have the CPU hitting 100°C repeatetly.

You are better off with a 65 watt or even 45 watt CPU in my opinion. As the GPU is rather slow, the CPU don't has to be super powerful either, for gaming at least.

- GPU: With enougth ventilation holes it will more or less work. But also expect high temperatures and eventually a bit throttling.

I have 5 fans in my PC but use speedfan to turn them off when idle so the pc is passively cooled by the flow of water and I literally cannot hear a thing even when I put my ear against the pc. I don't think you should go completely fanless. Get fans but maybe turn them off at idle and turn them on when gaming or such

The thing is i have already bought the cpu previously...

will this be a problem?

Depends on your definition of "problem".

You can limit the power consumption of the CPU in the BIOS. I also did this in my fanless system to prevent a runaway in badly coded torture tests. But I set it to 105 watts on a 88 watts CPU.

You need to set it to ~75 watts on a 91 watts CPU. Expect a ~20 perforance drop. Also I don't like the FX-100 cooler personally. Half of the outer finns are horizontal and more or less useless for passive cooling. You would need something like the Nofan CR-95, but it won't fit.

Could have a look at the Gainward Phantom series of cards, yeah the higher end models have fans but they're veeeery quiet.

Now that im limiting the cpu to run on less power, what about a picopsu?

It's barly enougth for the CPU, but the GPU also needs some power. The Seasonic Fanless PSU is great and I can recommend it so no need the change.
