How did you download it? Is your current Windows installation 32-bit?

I used the download wizard and created a boot usb of windows 10 pro on another computer due to the fact that the computer i wanted windows 10 on is custom. I used the product key given for the beta version, but it seemed to work as i believe that i got the full version of windows 10 (even though i am getting a notification asking me to pay for an official product key)

If the other computer is 32-bit, that would explain it.

Re-download it. That's the only other option.

if i purchase a proper product key will it download the 64 bit version?

im worried that the product key will only apply for the 32 bit version...

Product keys apply to both.

ok great. is there any practical benefit for the average consumer to buy windows 10 pro over windows 10 home?

No, I don't think so.
