PSU for GTX980TI SLI

RRGT19

Hi, thanks for your help.

I want to be sure before buying the PSU.

The Power Meter told me that i need 850w using 2 hard drive and not overclock, and if i will be using more than 2 hard drive and overclock the CPU i will need 1000w, is this true?.

i just want to be sure 100%.

My PC:

  • i7-4790k
  • 32gb ddr3 1600
  • 2 hard drive
  • 1 ssd
  • 1 dvdrw
  • 2 gtx980ti that i will buy
  • Corsair H100i GTX Liquid CPU Cooler
  • 2 fans at the front
  • 2 fans at the top
  • 1 fan at the back

So, 1200w, 1050w, 1000w or 850w.. i want to be sure bro here, because a PSU is a expensive part and a hard decision to make.

you will not need much over 850W for that setup. Power calculators are never very accurate, so its better to ask other people.

You would be fine with a good quality 850W PSU

EVGA 850W G2 is more than capable of handling that setup

XFX.

Ditto this^

A good 850W should be more than enough, even with overclocking.

EVGA G2 850W would be my recommendation.

So, which PSU is better between:

  1. Corsair AX860 (80 PLUS Platinum) $169.99 on Amazon
  2. EVGA SuperNOVA 850 P2 (80 PLUS Platinum) $177.01 on Amazon

EXCUSE ME?! xD

In all honesty, I'm just waiting till my system catches on fire, considering the braided cables cost more than the PSU itself...

Don't.

Just get the evga, purely on the price

P2, imo, the G2 would have also been fine but the P2 is also great.

Get the Corsair, it's cheaper and it's a decent power supply.

Was thinking about this case then: http://www.corsair.com/en/carbide-series-air-240-arctic-white-high-airflow-micro-atx-and-mini-itx-pc-case

it allows bigger PSUs... what i don't like about it is that it doesn't have a DVDRW cage :(

I looked inot the AX more and though it isn't quite as good as the G2/P2 it is still great, I already knew it was a top tier psu but I have  given it a good look over and have no issues with it, as for your choices in cases that is not my forte and get what ever you want, the Cosair PSU has a 7 year warranty, and has very good performance so get it if you want the first case.
