That fourth image has three GPU' s on one card. The others have two. Yes, I know the 9800X2 exists.

very intrestseing, cant wait to see it gaming

Its a 295x2 with higher base clocks and 8GB per core, I don't think it will really perform any differently than the 4GB per core Devil 13 from powercolor. In fact, its still called the devil 13. I think they would change the name if it was significantly different.

Makes sense, but we all thought that about the 290(X) vs 390(X) as well... wait for the benches.

And it was true? Clocks went from 1000mhz on the 290x to 1050 on the 390x which is a 5% clock speed increase, and when I look up benchmarks I don't see more than 4% difference. The increases you are seeing right now are from driver improvements, and the 290 gets those too. Memory clocks are up to 6gbps as well, and that would probably effect certian titles.

still $600 vs $1200

yeah definitely, but they both are around the same value... my 980ti @ 1.5ghz gets the same GPU score in firestrike as my two r9 290's at 1.0ghz did (using half the power)

ultimately it depends on what your goal is, 4k 60fps would be more consistently achieved with two 980ti's where as an r9 295x might not always get you there...

I would go a single 980ti over an r9 295x just to avoid crossfire driver headaches and avoid the doubled power draw for only 10-20% more performance.

What is true is that the GPU is the same.  The way that GPU is used on the 390 gives it that performance boost that overtakes the R9 290/GTX 970 in many titles.

These are cherry picked, but examples nonetheless:
