Does any one have any experience using an off-brand Xbox 360 wireless controller adapter on a PC?   I've been using my wired controller, but it might be nice to use the wireless one sometimes, too.  Microsoft's is double the price of many on eBay or even on Amazon.

Just wondering if there are connectivity [read: signal drops] or button responsiveness/latency issues.

Kinda weak that it doesn't connect via bluetooth.  Oh well.

For the most part, connecting those controllers wireless kinda sucks. When I used wireless on my 360 controller for my PC it kinda sucked, there wasn't input lag, but it just kinda felt "off" compared to using it on my XBox 360 and wired to my PC.

It's a bit less responsive, I THINK there's latency, but I only ever got signal drops a few times before I got fed up. Maybe it was a crappy adapter, I don't know.

Do you remember what the brand name was?

What did you end up doing?  Different controller?  Different adapter?

I ended up just plugging it in.. I sit right next to the computer anyway, so it wasn't a big deal for me.

It was a while back, so I don't remember the brand name. Now I use a wired PS4 controller (it just plugs in via micro-USB, super convenient. If I want to sit away I use my 10' cable :P) I like the PS4 controller more, the triggers are pretty loose and that's great 'cause I only use it for Rocket League, and when I use my 360 controller with the stiff triggers I get cramps.

Hah. Ya. Cables definitely make things easier.

But messier. My PC is in my living room.  I *thought* I'd be okay with a mouse cable and the controller cable on the floor (already have a wireless keyboard) but now that I'm actually using it... meh..  it's a bit sloppier than I'd like it to be.  I've already ordered a new Logitech wireless gaming mouse.

Maybe having wireless keyboard and mouse will be enough.  We'll see what happens if any one else chimes in with their experience.

I just know that generally the Microsoft one is the best, since they make the controller in the first place. It's expensive, but it can connect up to 4 controllers if I remember correctly. Also, good connectivity.

I wouldn't doubt it.  For $20, though, I feel like I would probably be better off going the distance and getting an Xbox One controller since I've got a bluetooth adapter already.

I like the Xbox One controller the best. The bumpers are kinda dumb though..

The off brand ones can be a pain in the arse to install drivers for but after that they are fine.

I guess mine just sucked. After all, it was only $10..

 Now I use a wired PS4 controller

I suppose I could dick around with one of my PS4 controllers.  I've heard it's not as plug-and-play for in-game settings, though.

I'm one of those jackasses that would rather pay a little more to not have to deal with configurations/settings for different games.  Kind of lame, huh.. considering I created a thread to ask about possibly saving some scratch with an off-brand receiver.

Life can be contradictory at times.  :P

Here I was about to talk about all the headaches I had spending months trying to get my PS4 controller to work wirelessly with out success, and now, as I was typing, I got everything to work flawlessly.

I think some update with windows since my last attempt must have done it because I haven't updated my input wrappers since then.

I use a generic wireless adapter from Ebay. Uses the same drivers that the branded adapter uses. You can see how to install the drivers on youtube videos. Works perfectly. You can get the wireless adapters on Ebay for $8 or less with shipping.

I gave up on PS3 controllers working correctly. They worked but with the XBOX controller it's seemless. It's like playing XBOX with better graphics on the PC with the wireless adapter. You can play wired while your controlling is charging via the cable that comes with the XBOX 360 controller.

i bought the official xbox 360 wireless adapter from microsoft and i havent really noticed any issues at all. It was plug and play from the start. Its been about 2 years and no issues with connectivity. I sometimes play with 2 people and never had any issues with all 3 controllers plugged in at the same time.

I prefer a Playstation controller for the symmetry of the analog sticks, but I don't hate the Xbox controller. I'd rather cope with the weird thumb positions and inferior D-pad than have to map buttons for each game.  It's not so bad.

Very cool.  What local-multiplayer games do you play?

I've got the Microsoft brand adapter and it's amazing.  I've had it for about 5-6 years now and have treated it with a minimum amount of respect and it's still trucking through.  I'd suggest it to anybody really, download Xpadder and you're controlling your desktop with your controller in seconds.  Super nifty for youtubing/browing/bsing and laying back.  I've never once had an issue connecting to the adapter, never lost connection, it's been absolutely flawless.  No noticeable input lag and surprisingly a lot of games have instant support for the controller and if not, xpadder sure does.

Hm.  I can't quite tell -- how do you really feel about it?  ;)

Mine works fine.  Using a controller just feels so weird when playing FPS games.

There are more than just first person shooters. :)

Good to know the cheapies work, though.  What brand is it?

This is the one I have.  Works fine.
