Simple PC build info?

Go to solution Solved by Maskot,

Build:

EVGA 02G-P4-3658-KR GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST SuperClocked 2GB

Intel Core i5-4430 Haswell 3.0GHz

CORSAIR XMS 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 1333 x2

ASUS Z87-A LGA 1150 Intel Z87 motherboard

You'd be better off with an H87 motherboard, the difference between Z87 and H87 is that Z87 denotes a board made for overclocking, the only intel CPU's that overclock are the ones with the K at the end (i5 4670K, i7 4770k) it's also slightly more expensive to buy a Z87 board.  If you have other plans like putting in a higher performing K series CPU late on, then I understand.  You really only need a 500W power supply, I'd say get a higher efficiency 500W powersupply that will actually make your computer run at over 80 power draw (hence the 80+ certification) so that you aren't wasting power.

Hi, I am building a new computer soon and would like some info on the haswell processors and the certified power supplys. This build will include a  graphics card that requires a 450W power supply, and the processor requires 84W. With this in mind, I should probably buy something around 650W for my power supply. However, since the certified power supplys are for putting out less energy for the haswell, would it be fine for this build to have a 600W supply instead? the best combo deals I have seen on Newegg include a 600W power supply, which is certified. So that's why I'm asking.

help?

The reason a graphics card says "minimum of 450w" is so you have the necessary pci-e connectors to run it, this being said, depending on what graphics card you get, 500w should be way more than enough for a haswell series processor and graphics card, if you don't mind could you please give more info on your whole build, this community can help you a lot more the more info that is given.

You should be able to get by just fine with a CX430.

Dude a 500W PSU would be fine with that, look at benchmarks for real world system power usage instead of company sites, the 7850 I'm getting is more powerful than a 650 it dunno about boost super clocked and it draws 130 max on absolute 100 percent load.

Already stated, a cx430 would easily run your build--possibly but not recommended even 2 650 Ti Boosts.

I'd recommend getting a 7850 instead though--get the cheapest one you can find. It should be around the same price or even cheaper.

7850 > 660 > 650 Ti Boost
