Activate windows notification problem

So I just upgraded my mobo that is currently in the w10 preview which I upgraded it from 8.1. I didnt fresh install and just uninstall the drivers that can affect the mobo. After doing all that, everything went according to plan but theres this notification that telling me to activate windows on settings. And on the activation tab it says that windows is not activated. Please help

Have you ever had an illegitimate copy of Windows before? This happened to me as I used a copy of Windows 8 for one piece of software that I use only on one hard drive and it wouldn't let me activate until I had de-activated the copy of 8 that was illegitimate. 

 

EDIT: Wait, you upgraded your mobo lol. The key is tied to your motherboard. Might wanna go deactivate your old copy from that board.

It does not apply to OEM licenses.

Then you'll need to purchase a new license if I remember correctly. OEM licenses do not transfer unless done by the OEM in special circumstances (ex. warranty repairs). Only retail licenses can be de-activated and used on another system.

 

Which makes sense or else I can troll Best Buy by purchasing a PC, steal the Product Key, then return it.

Hey guys, so I just talk to windows support and explained what happened and I just gave them my w8.1 key and they gave me a windows 10 key.

if your MB failed or you needed to replace it faulty ect. they 99% give you a new key or allow your old one to work again . ive done it countless times even got my x79 system to a x99 board since the tech got confused with all the info i gave him . also helps to call right before they end support for the night makes then work really fast

always de-auth a pc MB if your going to switch or do anything with upgrades ect unless it dies then just call them and play stupid with them

Sometimes when you change motherboards, you need to re enter your product key.
