Win7 Crazy RAM Usage

Go to solution Solved by noisebomb44,

When you are inside the task manager with all the programs sorted from most used RAM to lowest used RAM, try to enable "view all programs", or something like that

Hey there!

I am a coder, not much of a gamer. And sometimes I have 3 or 4 instances of Microsoft Visual Studio open at a time.
Which takes up alot of memory. My old Windows 7 install was taking up around 5.5 gb of RAM at idle. Which was caused (I guess) by the amout of junk programs that were on that install.
Because I got messages that I was running out of memory. Due to that I only have 8gb of ram. I decided to reinstall my OS.
Everything went smoothly and now 1 day later. My computer is fully operatable again. drivers installed etc.
Only Now I am having this problem:

My current usage:
- 1 Explorer window

- 1 Opera tab

- Skype
- Taskmanager

Background:

- CyberGhost

- puush

- CCleaner

- Nvidia GeForce Experience

- MSE

^

Thats the ram it uses.
I really went WTF?!
Also if you look at the processes that are running, adding up all the memory usage they use up about 650 mb of ram.

I have one BitLocker drive of 3gb that contains all my projects.
Did it load up that entire drive into the RAM?

I want to solve this, because I have 16 spare gigs of ram. But I'd like to use that for something else.

EDIT: I am running 3 2560x1600 displays in non surround. idk if that could eat memory.

Click on Processes tab and click on the Memory column, it will sort highest usage to lowest. Try that and report back! B)

Skype uses a lot of RAM but not that much. You probably disabled page file.

EDIT: Or it's just Windows 7's Aero being a b***h
