This is a high end build. I would have chosen a different graphics card tho, mainly for the huge consumption, and cheaper pieces that give better performance per dollar, but other than that, looks great and can probably play 99% of new titles on the next 5 years.

Main - SPEEDTEST
CPU AMD FX-8350 | RAM Kingston HyperX 12GB @1866MHz | GPU Gigabyte HD 7850 | Mobo Asrock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 | HDD 1863GB Seagate ST2000DM001-1CH164 | PSU 550W | Case VENTO A8
Le Petite Frankenstein (First build, only original part is GPU)
CPU AMD Ahlon II X2 260 | RAM 2x2GB @1333MHz | GPU Sapphire HD 3650 | Mobo Gigabyte 78LMT-S2P | HDD 500GB | PSU 500W | 1998 Case
I support AMD because I support competition in the hardware market. We all know if the "other guys" had a complete monopoly, things wouldn't get any better for ANYONE..

I would suggest :

i5-4690K

Z97S SLI Krait

8-16GB of ram

250GB SSD + 1TB HDD 7200RPM

R9 390 Nitro

Some good looking case

650W-750W PSU 80+ Gold Certified

The reason why 4690K is because you can upgrade to i7-4790K in the future and 16GB of ram is starting to become useful at some AAA title games. If you wanna SLI/Crossfire then 850W PSU

EDIT : Add some quality CPU Cooler like ND-D15 or Dark Rock Pro 3 or even AIO cooler

Less than $1000 would be best. It's mainly for gaming.

Is changing the GPU to 8GB really necessary? Is 4GB not good enough? :/ What's wrong with my motherboard? I just want some info as to why so that I can be totally sure. :3

The gpu you linked lacks the power to run today's games well. Don't buy the 390x, it's just an oc'd 390 + $60

H97 and H87 and B85 mobo's are used for Locked CPU's (though it is possible to OC on one with a unlocked one)

Seeing your "just gaming" an i5 4460 should have more or less about the same preformance as a i7 4790

390x is miles faster and better than a 380 and will max out any game at 1080p 60 fps with this setup

It's for the same reason that NVIDIA are phasing out the 2GB GTX 960 - many games are becoming too much for it.

Whilst more VRAM isn't going to give you a massive performance boost, it will certainly prevent your system from bogging down when things go nuts in a game.

As for the motherboard, you aren't going to reap many benefits from an Z97 board on a non-K Intel chip. A 4460 will be plenty for gaming, and an H97 allows you to use that processor just fine without having any features on either end missing or not complimenting the build.
