$900 USD Gaming Tower

isdouble

Hey LLT,

I'm helping out a friend that wants a new gaming desktop.

He actually ordered a desktop from IBUYPOWER for $800 USD which had GT 720 as the GPU with an i5 4460.

I immediately told him to return the desktop and I'll help him build a brand new one.

Here is what I have so far.

Motherboard: Asus H170-PLUS D3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($94.24 @ Amazon)
Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 380 4GB Video Card  ($229.99 @ Amazon)
Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case  ($65.95 @ Amazon)
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer  ($17.75 @ OutletPC)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 OEM (64-bit)  ($87.98 @ OutletPC)
Total: $897.16
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Couple requirements has been made by my friend.
He wants an i5 with an ASUS MB. He also needs a copy of W8.1 as well and of course under the budget of $900 USD.
Do you guys think what I have built for him is optimized?

If anyone else have some inputs, please do reply.

Thanks!

EDIT: I'm using Newegg, Amazon, & OutletPC due to fast shipping times.

CASE - CM Storm Stryker, PSU - EVGA 1000 P2 80+ Plat, CPU - i7 4790K w/ NZXT Kraken X61, GPU - MSI GTX 1080 TI Seahawk X, MB - ASUS Z97 Maximus Hero VII, RAM - G.SKILL Ripjaw X Series (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600, SSD - SAMSUNG 1 TB, DISPLAY - ACER XB270HU + SAMSUNG S24C570HL

The CPU would most likely have more GPU power than the GT 720. The build looks good but see if you can add a SSD

You dont need an all out hyper 212, if you really want an aftermarket cooler, get the tx3 or t4.

Changed i5 to i3 and added an SSD.

He wants an i5 or I would've done the same.

Do you mind me asking what the max he will pay is?

He said under $1000 but I kept it around $900 due to 9% tax.
