The GTX 970 is great at $300, and the R9 390 is great at $330. Would lean towards the 390 myself, since its only $30 more, and out performs the 970. It's just a shame you missed the GTX 980 on EVGA's B-Stock page for $360. It had a 1 year warranty, and was refurbished. Guaranteed to work. Would have been some pretty sweet price:performance.

Would recommend the 390 over the 970, as for brand i would go for Sapphire or MSI, if they cost about the same go for the Sapphire (comming from someone who owns the MSI myself) :)

Ryzen 7 3700x, MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX, 16GB Ballistix Elite 3600MHz, MSI RTX 2070 Super Gaming X Trio, Corsair RM750x V2

Which GPU would be best for gaming if I had around $350 US to spend on it?

I'm thinking the R9 390 or the GTX 970.

I would like to recommend, there is a sale on the GTX 970 at the moment, where you can get it at a really killer price. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MSI-GeForce-GTX-970-GTX-970-4GD5T-Titanium-OC-4GB-256-Bit-GDDR5-PCI-Express-3-0/291560857366?&rmvSB=true

This is Newegg's Ebay page. $270 for a GTX 970. You really cannot beat this price:performance at the moment. Just throwing that option out there.

I have had a good experience with them in both RMA and noise so yea..

I guess to each his own.
