Can a gpu boost up by +215mhz?

I though it was usually 100ish

Are you talking about the actual GPU boost with Nvidia cards or just overclocking in general?

A friend is saying her 980ti is boosting from a base core clock of 1310-1315mhz to 1530mhz.

I'd think it be more around 1400 something

It mainly depends on temps and the card itself, as long as things aren't too hot and it's capable of boosting that high it's not impossible but 1530Mhz is really high.

Wouldn't it have to be freakishly cold to boost that high. Over exaggeration but still decently cool

Well not overly cold, I've tried overclocking my watercooled 970 and was able to have GPU boost with that bring it all the way just shy of 1600MHz under certain loads.

I added an extra +150MHz to the core for my overclock and it's regular stock boost clock was 1329Mhz so approx GPU boost increased it by +121Mhz by itself.

beastly 970

Btw, forgot to mention her card is on air.

What's the problem?

Here's some screenshots tabbing out of game (not a particularly demanding one at that).

Base clock is 1190, boost is 1418.3. Edit: all ambient air cooled, including the CPU. Room temp is 28.4c.

This card isn't a great example of overclocking as it will only go as far as 1519 in this specific room. Funnily enough to reach that the base clock has to be set to 1290. (1315 is a massive base clock for a 980Ti btw, incase you didn't know).

So yeah, I have no trouble believing a good overclocker reaches 1530 boost since: 1418.3-1190 > 200
