How much memory can Intel core i5 4570 handle?

As much as your motherboard supports.

If the i5 is a non-K model, then your H-based Motherboard will accept 1600Mhz or less memory speeds. It's a chipset limitation. Faster memory will run at 1600Mhz too.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

HyperX Savage DDR3 2400MHz 32GB would work, but at a slower speed?

H97 boards will accept it. But yeah it will run at 1600mhz.

4570 can hold 4 Memory stick according to ark.intel.com, it support 2 Memory Channel, that mean it support 4 Memory Sticks
