My watercooling pump just broke down (god bless my rpm warning), so I need a replacement. As I'm on quite a budget I went looking for cheap Chinese alternatives (links below), but even though they have proper reviews, it still seems a bit sketchy to me. Does anyone have experience with these kinds of cheep pumps or does anyone have a better alternative? It needs to be extremely quiet, I don't want to hear anything, and it has to be able to give enough power for 2 GPU's, 1CPU and 2 large radiators.

What pump do you currently have? It might be easy to fix.

looked up pump 9/11

OMG lol

I have the SC600 in a build with a r9295x2 block, cpu and double 240mm rads and it seems to move the liquid quite well. It is also about the same as my DDC, that is to say very quiet/silent as long as its below about 2500rpm. I run it off a fan controller, it comes with a 3 pin, but can't say as to how a motherboard would handle it.

(the pump is in the build in my sig)

If you need a cheap pump, I'd recommend one of these:

https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-dcp-4-0-pwm-12v-dc-pwm-pump

https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-dcp-2-2-12v-dc-pump

Depending on your loop, you may or may not need the larger one. They do require some dampening as vibrations are on the strong side (mount on a foam sandwich) and you'll want to run them with a controller at around 7V for best results, but they are very reliable.

I've got the DCP4.0 in a different build, but it is way too loud for my liking (reducing the RPM changes the tone, not the loudness of the noise). As I said I need something completely quiet like the D5 vario I had.

Can you hear the SC600 when it is running inside your case?

Haha I've seen the weirdest shit on aliexpress.

I have the same pump. Mine runs completely silent, I can't hear it at all. At 12V it sounds like a diesel engine, but at 6V (where I'm running it now) I can barely hear it, although it still vibrates. You need to fully decouple it from the case, otherwise it will always be loud. I did that with a 2" foam sandwich, hotglued it to the top.

No, I actually have to check if its running sometimes, but thats at sub 2400rpm in the back of an air 240. At 3500rpm its fairly audible.

Never try running a pump off your motherboard, you'll burn out the header within seconds. Way too much current.

Although I am using molex, my pump draws 12 watts, which is the rated output on the motherboard fan headers. No point in doing that though as it has a separate connector for the RPM readings and another for power (molex)

If the pump draws 12W at 12V and your fan headers are rated for that, then it's fine. Just consider that the current draw will go up quite drastically when undervolting.

Yeah I've got mine decoupled from the the case (even decoupled the resevoir as the vibrations were transferred trough the tube), but it is still audiable. If I reduce the voltage to 6V I can hear a little rattling noise, but even though that rattling noise is almost inaudible, it can't mean anything good.

My DDC runs quiet even at max, though that's because the PSU is loud as fuck for some reason.

I personally wouldn't ever trust Chinese made pumps purely because they may have a completely different manufacturing tolerance.

Sounds like a faulty pump to me... rattling is definitely not normal, I can run mine all the way down to 4V without any weird noises.

is this better than using the mobo?

if the pump is 12w or less, run it off the motherboard. If it is more, plug it into molex or get a 12v power brick and connect it to the 12v on the pump.
