So my buddy from school (His name is colton) approached me yesterday and asked me if i would like to help make a gaming community for my area. He wants to create a friendly environment (Also competitive at times) for people to come and play video games. He wants to maybe do LAN parties on different games and stuff. How would we go about doing this? (Also he has afew pc's that are decent but most are building their own pcs) Also we would most likely be playing in his basement. Im just asking for tips on anything related to this

post it online. Find a nice place. Tell everyone to bring their rig. Have a sign up page.

Have a list of games that will be played and setup voting for them

Also setup a system where once 51% of people want to play another game everyone switches to the next most voted for game

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Get an Ethernet switch and just run all the PC's into that and then into the router.

I've actually started a high school esports team at my High School-

Just get a group of people that you actually trust enough to come to your house and play, spark it from there. You can even go as far as starting a club at your school, back when I was in highschool we used to have league tournaments and they were super popular. Basically it was a $20 dollar entry fee per team and we would have like 8 teams, the winners would get the money collected from all the teams, it was pretty cool you should try it.

I live in the country (More are focused on tractors than video games), there are about 60 people in my sophomore class. There are enough though to just have a small group for now

LAN Advise.

Know what games you're going to play ahead of time, so people know what they need.

Know how many people are coming, so tables and sufficient ethernet ports can be accommodate.

Keep calm, and LAN on.

That's pretty much the start and end of my tips on lan shit, i've hosted a couple for my group of around 12 friends, nothing amazing.

Be aware that if you're going to have more than like 5 people over, it might be worth investing in more networking equipment than just one router.

Also there is an app that helps connect you with local gamers, not sure how many people actually use it but you might be able to get some use out of it in order to connect with more people and create more trust. I believe the name of the app is TreyBro.
