Hello, I recently bought a Lenovo Thinkpad x220. I am looking to replace the mechanical hard drive with a ssd. I am looking for something in the 240-250 GB range. Out of these drives which one would you recommend and WHY? Also, if you have an better suggestions feel free to let me know of them. Keep in mind though I am only looking for 240-250 GB and am looking to stay in the $70-80 price range at most. Also, it has to be 7mm. For what its worth, right now I am leaning towards the Crucial one.

Thanks!

Samsung 850 EVO is the best SSD here.

I cba to open the links so I'm assuming you picked a Crucial BX100 250GB SSD, a Samsung 850 EVO, an SSDNow and something else.

I'd go for the crucial one since it's the middle ground between speed and price. SSDNow is crap and the EVO in this case would be a little expensive. Give the adata SP550 SSD a look though, it appears to be quite good for the price.

Between Crucial and Samsung, which one would you recommend?

The crucial. The Samsung drive isn't really that much faster (for sustained operations, the Phison S10 controller is king, and neither has one), and they haven't been pitted against each other for reliability yet (that takes a year and a half at least) so... imo the crucial for the price.

There are others out there you could look at. OCZ(Toshiba) and Adata SSDs are really good for the price.

the 850 evo

faster and more durable with the 3d nand technology they use

its more expensive, but not by a lot and IMO worth it

This. And as I said before, Adata SP550 250GB is like $70.

Why is that?

Thanks

Why is that? 5 years warranty compared to 3 of those other SSDs - that should convince you to get the Samsung over the rest. It's also faster, featuring a 3D NAND technology. You can't go wrong with that SSD.
