Hdd to add

So today I'm installing a ssd for a friend, he can reinstall windows but only from in windows as he has no disk or the product code, so is there a way to reinstall on the new ssd or does it have to be installed into the Hdd then cloned to the ssd, then reformat the Hdd ???

Any help would be great thank you

ever heard of installing via usb drive?

Just clone over the existing HDD to the SSD.

Also please note he doesn't have the product code for windows and it's a hp and doesn't come with any of the Stuff

well he can still use HP key but it requires an app that is not allowed here, there should be a LTT tutorial about how to create a USB drive to install windows from

download a program called magical jelly bean and get the product key, then uninstall and reinstall, if it doesnt allow the key contact Microsoft who will deactivate the key so it can be used.
