My usage on desktop is 2.7GB out of 7.8 avalible (34%) (2x4GB corsair vengeance pro 2133 9-11-10-30)

its not the antivirus ,and if i go to task manager / on processes that its not even using 2.7GB (the highest process uses about 100MB , which is the antivirus)

also my OS disk , the samsung 840 EVO 120GB has only 4.5GB left, if that makes any difference (previously ther was 10 gigs left, stupid BF4 community operations :P)

windows 8.1***

Do you have windows 10? I only ask because excessive ram usage on windows 10 is a common problem

8.1

Okay then you might have malware, or your system is running background operations of some kind, though more likely the first one as 8.1 has been out for a while (should have less memory leak issues), another option is that the system is trying to get windows 10 related updates but can't due to the limited drive space (they're like 6GB I think), take what I say with a grain of salt as these are just guesses.

2.7GB memory usage seems normal to me, especially if this isn't a fresh install. I'm using 2.6GB right now, with firefox open.

As for your disk space on your SSD... Delete your junk/move your games to a HDD.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x16GB DDR4-3200
MOBO: MSI B450m Gaming Plus NVME: Corsair MP510 240GB / Case: TT Core v21 PSU: Seasonic 750W / OS: Bazzite

Windows update would be constantly running, it's a service that runs through svchost.exe, so just check to see if windows updater is running through any of the instances of svchost.exe through taskmanager. This is also a good way to sniff out malware as some malware hides as windows services.

i got rid of all the junk xD, the pictures and the "documents" moved to the HDD+ the cleanup tool, but the dang community operations DLC on BF4 took all the space, i dont even like the new map, but im planning on doing a clean install when i get windows 10 and im planning getting a 512GB ssd for games

also in task manager if i count how much is used (under"processes" tab , under"memory"), i only get about 350MB

@AresKrieger

Well I've seen that before in windows 10, but don't know how to eliminate the problem, I thought it was an exclusive issue to windows 10 (it's not in 7 thankfully for me), but I guess I was incorrect, that tells me your system is using the extra memory as the system isn't reporting its usage properly, why I don't know, and unfortunately I have no fix, hopefully it goes away when you clean install as most os issues tend to do.
