PowerColor?

Go to solution Solved by Kobathor,

Just a question I want to ask the community, if they trust or would recommend the brand PowerColor. I want to buy a gpu locally from a guy that has an r9 280x by Powercolor for 160$. But on the other hand theres another guy with an Asus r9 280x (more reputable) for 200$, In the end of the day is Powercolor a reliable brand? or should I work up the extra money to make sure I get a product from a more reputable company?

Powercolor have really good coolers, but they're more on the loud side. DO NOT buy an ASUS R9 200 series card, the Powercolor one will be better.

ASUS make horrible Radeon cards, so get the Powercolor. It will be cooler and quieter.

It's unlikely your GPU will die. I know ASUS has pretty good support, but I have never dealt with PowerColor. I'd get whichever is cheaper.

(I have owned an OLD PowerColor GPU, and it has lasted for years)

Unlike their NVidia cards, Asus does not make custom coolers for their Radeon cards. It's that horrible for the 300 series, but for the 200 series there are LOTS of cooling issues since lots of components are not properly cooled.

They make great NVidia cards, but steer away from the Radeon cards.
