Upgrading from Intel e8400

In ebay i see fx 8320e costs already 150euro, and mobo about 50euro, so its around 200, too much... Need something cheaper.

It's an FX chip at 3GHz I think? Even 95W is overrated if you ask me

I think if you want A new system then Go for 860K, FX-6300, i5-4460 or i3-6100! :3

I would say FX 6300 + mobo combo or a Core 2 Quad, a q6600 for example are great for simple Minecraft servers.

It looks nice, but that motherboard... its too much BIG. Will it fit your case? Ask yourself

860k makes sense for the budget and is roughly 1/4 faster than a high end core 2 quad - probably 1/3 faster than a q6600, but just upgrading to a core 2 quad costs you a third the price, depending on what you get it for.

Yes, case not a problem. About 860k it looks promising, but it costs cpu+mobo 100 euro, but best core 2 quad q9650 costs only 25euro

That's a good price for the q9650.  I think it's worth a shot even if you only got a couple more years out of the server.

 

Fitting OEM mobos in a case can be troublesome because of the wiring.

x5450 would still be a solid option but I think it needs some kind of adapter to work on lga 775.  I'd see if anybody has experience with it on your particular motherboard.

Well, sorry for updating my old thread. I re-thinked to get x5675 12 thread cpu, for 150euro, i think it's better than fx 8350, so for virtualization and some other things this is the most solid option i would say.
