desktop HDD connector standard.

Go to solution Solved by Juanse,

Yes, SATA is a standard, even consoles use it

I am buying a new USB to SATA adapter because mine broke, my question is are desktop HDDs held to the same connector standard as laptop? for instance, will something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SATA-7-15-Pin-22Pin-to-USB-Adapter-Cable-GRAC-For-2-5HDD-Laptop-Hard-Disk-Drive-/321818384739?hash=item4aedded963:g:jzEAAOSwgQ9VuEQu fit all SATA desktop drives?

Is it bad that my dream setup only costs a few thousand not counting the obutto?
