30-40k. That's pretty much sums up the reason. Manager in a bank would get 30k. It is easily replaceable and automated job... Of course it is a bummer for the families as they will gonna need to find another way of living, but 25 years of 40k wages, they should be settled very well. Minimum is 13.5k for non UK people. It's probably cheaper for the companies to get work power from china and just import the products. If the government is not gonna help local businesses they will find their own ways...

Sad to see it. I'm guessing the community will be hit as hard as trollhättan was when saab went bust. (Really can't find a job here anymore)

yeah, ever since it got mothballed the whole redcar/Southbank area has been pretty rough (well isn't that a change).

 

Afaik the toris have not done anything. down the gare (basically the beach other side of the actual plant) is where my fam usually walks our dogs as there is so much room for activities, it's always mega eerie and quiet, pretty spooky tbh,1792861.jpg
