Microsoft getting serious about PC gaming.

http://www.theverge.com/2013/8/14/4622618/microsoft-hires-jason-holtman-former-steam-boss

With that, and a potential XBOX Live integration, and the unified developpement SDK and Kernel between Windows and XBOX One.

*Mind blown*

(Personal comment : I hope for them that this is a succesful route that they're going in, otherwise PC Gamers' hearts have already moved to something and it would be really difficult to get them back.)

Stop bloating nonsense, and reason to contribute in a constructive manner.

Just wait for it, Microshit will try charge PC players for online now

You know, they did actually make windows, which is most likely what you are viewing right now. Personally i would hate paying for online, but there is no need to call a company names like that.

This is potentially a bad thing, more than it is a good thing. Assuming they will be working on the GFWL service, there is a good chance they will attempt what EA did with origin and make exclusive titles to their marketplace. I definitely don't think anyone, even Microsoft, will be able to win over Valve in the PC market, so this could be another shitty online service we have to go through just to play games. If all they do is improve GFWL and not bring back the marketplace, then I would be happy. Although I really despise Uplay, at least we can still buy our games through Steam.

They will never be able to charge for online playing lol . They'll go bankrupt plus they'll get sued by a trillion companies that are on the verge of bankruptcy because of them . If MS does that someone else will come up with a better OS .

they already have, it's called linux, there are quite a few different versions as well. it's just that the gaming manufacturers will start shifting over and making a lot more titles available for linux once M$ goes full retard.

edit: I'd like to see a Linux optimized for just gaming.

I've heard of Linux (who hasn't ? ) but as you said it's not for gaming , it's mainly used by and for servers.

The fact remains it's still better than windows, the only problem is the fact that game manufacturers prefer to go for M$ compatibility because the majority of people use windows, once that changes a new OS won't even be required, they'll just start porting and the kernel will be edited to a gaming edition.

steam already started supporting linux more.

Not quite, but primarily, yes. Linux is perfectly capable of running business-grade applications, assuming the applications run on Linux. There's always Crossover for running Windows programs on Linux.

 That's surprising considering there's a large following clamoring for native Linux gaming.

The progress has been amazing too. Crytek hiring Linux developers for CryEngine. Source and Source 2.0 already in development. Unreal 4 supports Linux natively. DICE has an OS X version of their engine (Frostbite), which means it'll most likely run on Linux. Metro Last Light is coming to Linux, which also means Metro 2033 will too. I'd give it 2-3 years before Linux becomes supported more widely (20-30% or more of Triple A titles launching with Linux) and maybe 5 years before all new Triple A titles support Linux natively.

Thats nice and all what you guys are saying but when exactly will Linux get the full attention of video game developers and port all their games onto Linux. Linux will also need to perform better in games then W7 for me before I make the change. I will wait though.

We're saying it's starting right now, just look around you and do a bit of research, I personally believe that there will also be a linux released that focuses on gamers pretty soon (within the next 5-6 years) Microsoft can't have the monopoly forever and that is starting to show, they slipped up way too many times.
