you'll be fine. I've had pny before and they aren't my preferred brand but performance should be nearly (if not exactly) the same

Yea, I am going to wait and get sli 970s. The performances of two 970s vs a 980 is... there is not comparison. Only if I were to sli 980s, would I want this

 

well technically 980 in slis would be 800 as opposed to 600 ish. not too much increase for the ability to play actively in 1440 or 4k.

Currently attempting to price match on Newegg to avoid Amazon's $30 tax! Plus the $40 MIR and you could sell the game code for $30, making this aftermarket gtx 980 $320.50!

what is so wrong with it that you are convinced that every single card that they manufacture is the same "shit" quality and performs worse than anything else? Having a bad or malfunctioning card does not necessarily mean everything the manufacturer does is "shit". I've had to send evga products back for warranty because they stopped working... Does this make evga a shit company that needs to be avoided? No. Its just the way it is. PNY isn't the best in my opinion but I've owned/own some of their parts and haven't had a bad experience at all. I had a 480gb ssd of theirs die and when i rma'd it they mailed me a prepaid shipping label and sent me an extra 120gb ssd back within a week. Haven't had a problem since then.

If you are going to trash a company's products, please say more than "it's so shit" to substantiate your claims.

i understand that could be frustrating. I also understand that just because your 770 is not perfect, does not mean that all 980's will have problems as well. Surely there is a way that you could've gotten a card with a warranty (most everyone does, solving this entire issue). Try reapplying thermal paste to it and making sure you've got a good mount to the cooler.

I'm almost 100% sure that pny uses nvidia's reference pcb on most all of their cards. Meaning the cards are the same as any other (reference style) brand, with maybe a different cooler or more likely, shroud (if that even)

Also 980's stomp 770's into the ground with 30% higher fps in gtav to start with
