This has been happening for awhile 3: And I cant quite figure out what it is. It doesnt happen very often, like maybe once a month. It usually happens when I put my PC to sleep, and start it back up, thats usually when it happens, after a few hours. I have done no overclocking. I'll have my build below, but I cant figure out what it is. 3: Its been happening.. oh.. six months maybe? Its not an immediate shut down, like it goes through the whole process of shutting down, and it can be turned on immediately when I hit the power button and no noticable problems after. 3: Any ideas?

And its been going through windows 7-10

Have you run virus scans and stuff?

I'm not sure but memory errors may be able to cause this sort of issue.

Also, please stop using a CX-series PSU. People say that they're bad.

Sig under construction.

It was my first build ever ;w; i didnt know better.. I actually spent waaaay too much on it since i derped on a few things.. It could be. Its not actually the memory listed, its unknown since it was from a computer of my friends, and has no labeling. I have run scans, many many times, and nothing ever turns up.

Okay. I would run a couple passes of Memtest86 to make sure that your RAM is fine.

Is your computer sufficiently cooled? Most computers are deisgned to shut down once they reach a certain temperature - This prevents component damage to occur.

I'll be honest. Stock cooler. 3: Not only that, but i didnt realize, when I built it, that there was thermalpaste pre-applied, so i just put it on, didnt know better. I havnt had the chance to reapply it, since the case is so bulky.. Its such a hassle.. But other than that, no. I even have an AC window unit to keep my room cool. But I really cannot tell you if its thermals or not.

Maybe it's that then, anyother thing you could try is booting your PC and then entering CMOS - If your PC does not turn off after idleing in this for a while then that means your windows instalation is corrupt. However, I must admit I had trouble with a few laptops and PC builds alike switching off as you've described and nearly all of the time its due to improper air flow throughout the case and the components heating up to temperatures which would irreprable cause damage.

Use HWMonitor to see your temps and report back.

Since it is not frequent, I wont really do anything until I upgrade, so I can just get a second case for my current as well as a cooler 3: Ultratowers are bulky.. Going to a mid. I will reapply the paste when I get a chance, though.

Should I close anything down during it? 3: I have a scan going on and a few programs

Memtest86 is something that runs completely alone, outside of an OS install, from a bootable USB - meaning it can test all RAM. The only thing running when performing a test is memtest86 itself.

Another check  you might want to try is systematically removing components that are not essential; such as sound/network cards, additional drives etc. To try and see if one of these is causing the issue; because any faulty hardware will cause the system to shut down as well.
