$1000 Gaming/Workstation Rig

Hey everyone! Im planing on buying and building a new gaming/workstation pc. I've got a budget of $1000 (USD), but im felxible to go around $50 above. I'm new to pc building, but I've torn down pc's before, and know the parts and layouts. All prices in USD and prices are from amazon. The links will be below eveything :)

           Let's get started shall we?

For the graphics card I've picked out the MSI R9 390 8GB CARD, for $352.49 (USD)

It may be over powerd for 1080p, but I like to go big or go home, so if its a good deal, I'll be all for it.

I want to play most to all games at 1080p at max settings. So I think it would be good.

For the RAM I'm going for the Corsair Vengeance Red 16GN (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz for $82.99 (USD)

Matches the build, and its reputable.

For the Motherboard I've gone for the MSI 970 ATX AMD $112.85

Plenty of port and AMD campatibility

For the CPU I've gone for the AMD FX-8350 Black Edition 8 core $169.99

Its and 8 core, so it will be good for gaming and working.

Storage I've gone for an SSD for the OS and a HDD for everything else

SSD Kingston Digital 120GB $50.00

HDD WD Green 2TB $78.99

The PSU I've gone for the Corsair CX 600 watt ($69.99 )

TRIDE AND TRUE

And finally for the case! The Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-01 for $73.01

Thats my build, It comes to around $990.31 USD!  With out an OS! Any recomendations on how to install that, and to fit it into budget. I have a windows 8 install disk.

If y'all recomend an all-in-one liqud cooler for this build, to put the budget to around $1550 that would be great! What do you guys think? Please leave some feed back, it would make my day if you guys could help me out here!

Get the i5 4460. Unless you want space heaters for an upgrade path.

That means ill need a different motherboard right? Any suggestions?

I can see you go for more cores so you will mainly use it for workstation? If yes. The bigger amount of powerful cores you have the quicker it will be. 5820k is expensive but great for workstation. Unless you will be rendering each and every day you won't see a difference between 4 and 6 score. So even an i5 should do the job.

LGA 1150 socket, look around for some micro-atx boards if you need to save a little bit of money.

The price may be more but it is well worth it to switch to intel.

Will that fit in the case? Or will i need a new case. A smaller case that can fit all of my parts would be epic! I want to put the case on my desk anyway.

It's overclockable, got an R9 390 (the Sapphire one I have is better than the MSI one), the case isn't the best but you can switch it out, it's got a mostly decent SSD, 1TB HDD, WAY better PSU, and good mobo.

Don't buy all your parts from Amazon, it'll save you A LOT of money by ordering from other websites (all the prices here are from reputable websites.)

DO NOT BUY THE CORSAIR CX600 FOR AN R9 390. Please. Do. Not. It's not tried and true, it's mediocre. Good for basic builds, this one is not basic.

I used to be quite active here.

Depends on which intel cpu you decide to go for. If you're going with the 4460, keep in mind that its a locked cpu, so no overclocking if you want a overclockable cpu , look for intel cpus ending in 'k'. H series boards are for locked cpus. Z series are for overclocking capable cpus

this is the one i am going to use in my build. keep in mind the pricing may be in Canadian

if anyone makes a build list in pc part picker, it will look like my build (different pricing depending on country)

Also, ppp is what's most used, so if there was any other service, they would not be up to snuff or popular yet.

FX is old, low IPC, an i5 would be better than the fx most case scenario, but since you need it for a workstation, the unlocked premium of the i5 (4690k) that you will be paying is not worth it,because xeon hyperthreading will help more than overclocking when you will be in need for more cores/threads (4 cores/8 threads) for some tasks, like video rendering/editing, or server virtualization

So your saying, if I understood correctly, to go with the FX?
