Upgrading my Old PC : need Help

Go to solution Solved by AverageHardware,

Can you suggest a good i3 CPU? or should I need to go for an i5?

i3 4170 or the NEW i3 6100.

I use an i3 4170 and I can play Battlefield 4 on High at 1080p. I have a GTX 750.

If you want even more power and can afford it, the i5 is definitely worth it.

i5 6600 or i5 4690k

Hi,

I am planning to upgrade my old PC into a mid to high end gaming PC.

Current Build :

AMD Phenom X3 8450 2.1GHz

ASUS M2N68-AM PLUS MOBO

2 x 2GB DDR2 RAM

320 GB 5200rpm HDD

NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS 512MB

My question is that if I need to play GTA V, Assassins Creed Syndicate, FIFA 16 at  40-60fps at medium to high settings and I want to only change the CPU and GPU which CPU and GPU combo would be the best?

If I change the GPU to GTX 750Ti or GTX 960 without changing the CPU, will these game bottleneck?

Thank You

A 960 will definitely bottleneck the CPU. A 750Ti would also be right on the edge. If you want my opinion, save and start everything fresh with a budget build using an i3 + 750/750ti/some amd card

i7 4790k | GTX 970 | 16GB

That's all you need to know. It's a beast.

750Ti is better than 960 you say?

the 960 is bad in the sense theres a better GPU (the r9 380) for the same price

If you need help with a build, post in the "New builds and planning" section, and lots of people will help you out. Just specify your budget, and what you plan to use the PC for.
