Hey guys, I'm considering either getting a skylake build. Would it really benefit me as a PC Gamer at all? Here are my current specs

Intel Core i5-4570

8 GB RAM

GTX 760

600W LEPA PSU

2 TB Seagate Barracuda

MSI H81M-E33

What I'm considering for Skylake: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DptWpg I MIGHT get a new case, still unsure if I'll actually do that though.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I may end up keeping my GTX 760 for now, at least until I feel its time to upgrade.

If you need more FPS just get a new GPU and an SSD for faster boot times and better quality of everyday's usage of your PC

Yours is fine, sky lake isn't so much better to upgrade over.

Join the Appleitionist cause! See spoiler below for answers to common questions that shouldn't be common!

Spoiler

Q: Do I have a virus?!
A: If you didn't click a sketchy email, haven't left your computer physically open to attack, haven't downloaded anything sketchy/free, know that your software hasn't been exploited in a new hack, then the answer is: probably not.

Q: What email/VPN should I use?
A: Proton mail and VPN are the best for email and VPNs respectively. (They're free in a good way)

Q: How can I stay anonymous on the (deep/dark) webzz???....

A: By learning how to de-anonymize everyone else; if you can do that, then you know what to do for yourself.

Q: What Linux distro is best for x y z?

A: Lubuntu for things with little processing power, Ubuntu for normal PCs, and if you need to do anything else then it's best if you do the research yourself.

Q: Why is my Linux giving me x y z error?

A: Have you not googled it? Are you sure StackOverflow doesn't have an answer? Does the error tell you what's wrong? If the answer is no to all of those, message me.

That CPU is perfectly capable of driving a GTX 980 Ti, so i would just stick with what you have. A good investment for more performance would be an SSD. Maybe even spend the extra cash, and get a better GPU. R9 390 would be a pretty good upgrade for the GTX 760, and you can sell your old card on the net somewhere for $100-$120 or so.

That systems fine, no need to fix what ain't dying. I'd save up for a better GPU and see what Pascal has to offer in a few months. :)

Well at the very least I am replacing this motherboard AND PSU.

If you really want to upgrade your system, listen to people that know what they're talking about, personal preference does not add performance.

Here are the upgrades you might want to do that are going to improve your PC performance : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/H6TrkL

If you already own an i5-4570 system upgrading to an unlocked Skylake will not greatly improve gaming performance. Upgrading the gpu would do much more to improve gaming.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
