So is anyone here ito DIY audio?

I've got a pair of modded Nakamichi NKBTHP11s that i'm planning on buying new earpads for.

These aren't worth new earpads. I'd suggest putting that money towards Sennheiser HD 558's or AKG K551's

I'm playing my Xbone on 3 LG Curved monitors-No one ever

Well... I'm not personally but my friend's dad built all his own audio boxes, including two amps (one for each channel), two speakers, a DAC, and I think a few other things for controlling the audio. All of the components are REALLY high quality (aka expensive, each amp has >10 $60 tubes in it) and I'm willing to bet he has over 20 grand worth of parts and labor in his audio system.

Pro Tip: don't use flash when taking pictures of your build; use a longer exposure instead. Prop up your camera with something (preferably a tripod) if necessary.

if you use retarded/autistic/etc to mean stupid please gtfo

But yes, I'm in to DIY audio.  I've taken off the sticker on the bass port of a pair of AKG K702's and it sort of worked.  It's a bit bassier now and not so tight as it was before.  I've also made some earpads for them out of some lamb skin I was able to pick up.

Oh, and I also made a custom case for my Maddogs Ether C because the one that came with them was, quite frankly, sort of cheap considering the price paid for them.

I have added a crossover in 5 1/2 pairs of my Miccas if that counts. Would love to do DIY speakers for all of my speakers, but I think I am good on audio for awhile (finally).

I have also done several simple mods on my Pioneer SE-A1000s (just headband and adding support under earpad) I have also had to mod my already modded M50s to put the earcup back on the headhand (did so with a wire hanger).

Internets Machine: Intel 4690k w/ Be Quiet! Pure Rock 4.7Ghz. MSI Krait z97. 16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport Ram. MSI GTX 970 SLI 1520mhz. 500GB Samsung EVO 840  & 3TB WD Blue Drive. Rosewill 1000w Modular PSU. Corsair Air 540

My Beats Yo: Desktop:SMSL SA-160 Amp, KEF Q100 w/ Dayton 100w Sub Theater: Micca MB42X-C x3, MB42X x2, COVO-S x2 w/Dayton 120w Sub Headphones:  HIFiMan HE-400i, PSB M4U2, Philips Fidelio X2, Modded Fostex T50RP, ATH-M50, NVX XPT100, Phillips SHP9500, Pioneer SE-A1000, Hyper X Cloud 1&2, CHC Silverado, Superlux 668B

I have a story for you :3

Sears had a closing sale with everything half-off, I saw them under a pile of beat-up boxes in the audio section. I then looked and saw the $60 price tag and, being the poor man I am, I thought, "Welp, I have the cash." I eventually payed the full price to get a lifetime warranty that Sears has never gotten back to me on. (Screw you, Sears!) After purchasing them I immediately started using them, impressed that when it said they had "Audiophile grade sound" they weren't quite lying.

About six months later the headbands snapped (Getting replacements parts 3D printed for a school project) and now I have them taped together. Sears obviously is pretending my warranty is not registered with them and I am very unhappy with them about this. Not long after the bluetooth went on the fritz and I ended re-wiring them and rebuilding them, taking out the bluetooth reciever. I guess this is what I get for buying something that was in a sketchy asle.

At least I can dismantel them right down to the faceplates! :D

i plan on 3D printing some replacement parts, and some custom faceplates as extra-credit projects for my engineering class. I'm thinking possibly something with shutters so I can transition from closed-back to open-back on a whim? These are very modder-friendly

My procrastination is the bane of my existence.

I make games and stuff in my spare time.

Well if you have the resources, then go for it...

I would've built my own heaphone amp if I had the time and the money to buy the parts...

or maybe replace the amp (failed shorted on all channels) on my currently broken Sony receiver...

Well, if screwing two woofers and a subwoofer to a shelf and hotwiring them to a 3.5mm plug counts then I suppose this counts too.

What's a "Maddogs" Ether C? Is that a thing, now?

Yes they are, sorry if I spelled it wrong.  They are quite nice sound quality wise and there was no reason whatsoever to make any ear pads.  They are, quite heavy even though the cans have carbon fiber enclosures but that was my only gripe with them.

I'm confused. Like 2 months ago you know nothing about headphones, now you have like 7 pairs of high end headphones?

No, that's incorrect.  My brother uses this account on occasion and wants headphones like mine,  Of course I allow him to borrow them from time to time but the nicest pair of headphones that he owns were a gift from me.  I bought him a pair of HD 598's because for some reason a guy on ebay sold them for the same price as a pair of HD 558's which I was going to buy him.

Oh that makes more sense :)

Yeah, I can understand, a lot of people get confused about that.  Funnily enough I had to apologize to a guy that he was fighting with, oh siblings...
