I need a laptop with a GREAT screen.

Fictionvl

Alright so, I'm looking for a laptop that has a great screen, like really good, specs are mid to high, an i5 and maybe 16 gigs of ram? I don't need a GPU but anything that can run Garry's mod is fine, which means I don't need a power full GPU at all

I looked at the Dell Xps 13 but I'm not sure how I feel about small screen laptops, I love the fact that it's almost bezel-less, which is one of the things that instantly attracted me to the laptop

My budget is about 1000$ and I can go over that but anything less is of course better

Early 2020 Build : Intel i7 8700k // MSI Krait Z370 // Corsair LPX 8x2 16GB // Aorus 5700 XT // NZXT H500

Early 2019 Build : Ryzen 2600X // Asus Tuff X470 // G.Skill Trident Z RGB 8x2 16GB // MSI RTX 2070 // NZXT H500

Late 2017 Build : Intel i7 8700k // Asus Prime Z370-A // G.Skill Trident Z 8x2 16GB // EVGA GTX 1080 Ti  // NZXT S320 Elite

Late 2015 Build : Intel i7 6700k // Asus Maximus VI Gene Z170 //  Corsair LPX 8x2 16GB // Gigabyte GTX 970 // Corsair Air 240

I know you said you don't need a discrete GPU but an Aorus x3 is an absolute powerhourse of a 13 inch laptop with a wonderful screen and it goes for 1500 on Newegg right now.  It's got an i7, 500 gb ssd, 870m for GPU, and 16 gb ddr3.  I have an x5 and I can vouch for the displays on these laptops, they're absolutely top of the line, high end quality.

Oh signature time!  It's on now, gonna give ya somethin snarky and clever and think way too hard about this because I'm really concerned about what people on the internet think of me.  Better google some good quotes to put in here too.....oh wait I'm not a loser.

13" is fine, trust me. the xps13 is a great option if it fits in the budget.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I forgot to mention, I need the think to be as lightweight as possible and it needs to have a good simple look. Nothing to fancy

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834725006&cm_re=aorus_x-_-34-725-006-_-Product        It's on sale and has a 100 off promotion right now putting it at $1200 for absolute powerhouse of a laptop with a wonderful 3k display.  It's around your budget and much more powerful than what you were looking for, it's a win win OP.

I was thinking about it, I just can't decide, I've been using Windows for ever, it would be cool to be able to simultaneously sync my iPhone with a Mac but I'm still not sure about it, OS side of course

The x3 is extremely light and has no stupid looking LED's on the outside; I chose it because it's not very gamery looking and it's performance is top of the line.  I needed something I could use in the office without feeling like a jackass and I've gotten nothing but compliments on the X5.  Speaking of the x5, it's extremely light and portable so the x3 should be all the more so.

I can stretch my budget to fit the i5 budget, I'm not quite sure about the size... I've been used to a full size keyboard for a while now would be kinda weird using a keyboard without a num-pad

Yeah I saw it, sucks that the base product uses an i3 and only 4 gigs of ram... Which is around my budget exactly, I'll see the combinations they have, but it still uses the same ten keyless keyboard :/

Ehhhh..... I guess I'll have to coup with that, I think I'll get a mechanical keyboard later on. So you reckon the XPS 13 would do me good?

yeah

I've heard Lenovo laptops have a horrible battery life :/ is that true? Also is the screen IPS?

depends on the model. the y50-70 comes with either a terrible tn screen or a good ips one, so you need to be careful when buying. The battery life is all right for a gaming laptop, which isn't to say much; a quad core and a dedicated gpu are bound to suck a lot of battery. I wouldn't buy that given your needs.

Alternatively if you care for a good screen but are fine with less than full hd you can find thinkpad x220s for dirt cheap. They come with great battery life and keyboards, great expandability, a pretty light weight and are extremely durable.

I don't need anything that turns heads, I just need something sleek, I think I'll settle with the Xps :) thanks a bunch guys
