Have been offered Core 2 Duo ex-education Dells

In my school's main IT room there are about 20 Dell Dimension Core 2 Duo machines they are getting rid of. They all have Windows 7 Enterprise and are connected to the domain.

Being the local IT nerd they offered me some.

The problem is, next week is mid term and i don't know the model numbers or service tags. What should I do about them?

Not quite sure how that's a problem, but I'd take them, you can always take them to the dump if you don't find a use for them

But, they're free... the worst case scenario is they turn out to be useless

I suppose so, would be a good side project to do something with them like distributed computing or a server of some sort

Could always ask them to check the specs or see if they'll let you come by for a minute? If they're free, i'd just take them regardless.聽
