A friend's friend has just died in a car accident, how can i help my friend mourn and recover?

Just a guy who peaked at building back in the days of the GTX 980. If you see me here, assume i have technical knowledge akin to a committed hobbyist builder back then. If something's changed, you'll need to tell me(nicely plz). I'm probably asking for help with the modern build scene since I have no clue what's going on.

To be honest, I'd give him some time alone for a bit, I know when something like that happens to me, I just kind of want everyone to stay away for a bit.

Everyone copes with loss differently. When I found out my best friend was killed while serving, I didn't know how to deal with it, so I didn't. I just accepted he was gone, gave my condolences to his family and moved on. I can't say I personally was a saint about it, or that I handled it perfectly, and it probably comes across that I didn't care for him, but truth be told thats just how I deal with trauma, I keep going.

What im trying to say is, everyone handles it very differently. Just, try to make sure your friend is doing alright, if you see they're struggling, talk to them. If you see nothing, let them know your thinking of them, but don't pressure them into doing anything. Just keep an eye on them, and make sure they don't slide down any rabbit holes and withdraw from society. Depression can be healthy, especially when you've very good reason to be depressed; just don't let them fall into it, and never attempt to climb back out.
