Media/Blu Ray PC

So I bought a smart blu-ray player to stream Crunchyroll and play blu-rays. Well Crunchyroll dropped support for smart blu-ray players so I am out of luck. And it is not playing blu rays and dvds reliable. I have had it more than two years so I am well outside my warranty period.

 

My room mate and I were discussing the possibility of building a media PC with streaming/blu-ray functionality. The max budget we were thinking was 200USD but if possible we would prefer cheaper. This PC just needs to be able to stream content and play blu-rays at 1080p if it can possibly do more than 1080p that would be an added bonus. I do not need any peripherals nor an operating system so this is the price pure also the smaller the better.

 

I know a host of configurations will run this but I do not know the cheapest/best value considering I have only been interested in PCs for the last 2~3 years and most of the components are still relatively expensive for my price range and well overkill.

 

I believe that covers everything but if I have missed something please let me know.

yea....I'm no expert but you need an OS to have the option to play media of any sort...

As in I don't need an OS factored into the price. I was planning on running some version of Linux.

As I was writing this post I realize I never looked at AMD and probably should. Would still prefer to be cheaper. How good is the graphics portion of that chip anyways? (Always looking for cheaper.)

I understood that was just wondering if I could get away with less though it seems less is hard to come by also just realize your part list doesn't include a blu-ray reader...
