If sellers implemented an accurate calculator for custom/handling fees when buying stuff say from the US since I'm guessing half the time what it is and makes me weary of not buying it. 

 

For the tax thing I don't see it as a bad thing to include taxes in prices, most people would have less of a headache calculating stuff.

It makes prices messy.    I bet you that a lot more people will buy the paper towel that is $5.50 versus the paper tower that is $5.47.  Because  $5.47 looks like more money. I think this expresses my point, but a good example has escaped my mind. 

 

Also there is lot more potential to mess up the prices. Like accidental applying GST to something that is exempt, someone might catch it but chances are unless a machine does this for a larger operation someone will mess it up at some point.  

 

Within the company they have sort out just how much tax is associated to a purchase, for example : Someone buys a $250 couch that is all in. Now the retailer has to sort out exactly how much was PST and GST so they can keep track for accounting reasons. This would be just another level of complications to a company. Small family stores that would be expected to do this as well and perhaps its a just one more annoyance for them. (this last thing is really pushing it)

 

 

So I voted in the poll that we should abolish hidden costs, But I thought I would point it that it may not be as simple and perhaps that is why they haven't yet done so.
